Both Raken and CrewTracks do daily reports. Both have time tracking with GPS. Both are built for the construction industry. So how do you pick? The honest answer is that they are built for different kinds of companies. Raken started from the general contractor’s side of the job. CrewTracks started from the subcontractor’s side. If … Read more
Both CrewTracks and ClockShark will get your crew clocked in and out accurately. If that is all you need, this comparison is short: ClockShark is a solid, affordable time clock. But most subcontractors need more than a clock, and that is where the two tools go in different directions. Here is an honest look at … Read more
Overtime creeps up on paper before anyone decides it should. The pay period closes, the number is higher than it was last time, and nobody can point to why. Nobody worked a double shift. Nobody picked up a Saturday. The hours just added up somewhere along the way, and now they’re sitting on a paycheck. … Read more
Excavating jobs get bid in cubic yards. Yards of cut, yards of fill, sometimes tons hauled or linear feet of trench dug. Whatever the unit, it is almost never just hours. Excavation contractor software that only tracks hours is missing the number the bid was actually built on. That gap is where excavating contractors lose … Read more
You have looked at digital field management software before. Maybe you liked what you saw. Then you pictured the conversation with your foreman about “another app,” and the whole thing stalled out right there. That hesitation is not irrational. You know your crew. Most subcontractors can answer the first two questions without much thought. The third one is where things get fuzzy, and that fuzziness … Read more
If you have ever closed out an asphalt job and only realized it ran over budget once it was too late to do anything about it, you are not the only one. Paper timecards and tonnage tickets do not talk to each other until someone sits down and reconciles them by hand, usually after the … Read more

If that is where you are right now, here is what actually matters for a subcontractor comparing CrewTracks and … Read more
It’s Friday afternoon and a timecard doesn’t add up. The crew says they were on-site until 4:30. The foreman thinks it was closer to 4. Nobody’s lying exactly, but nobody’s sure either, and now you’re the one deciding whose memory to trust before payroll runs. Every subcontractor has some version of this story. A client … Read more
